Abelmoschus esculentus 'Choppee' originated in Georgetown, SC from the Jacobs family in the mid-1800's.

It grows to about six feet tall. It is an annual and is hardy in USDA Zones 2 - 11. Hibiscus-like flowers are produced throughout the summer, followed by edible fruit. It is best grown in full sun.

It has been our experience that Abelmoschus esculentus 'Choppee' performs well in our area. Due to its rapid growth, we recommend monitoring it regularly to keep it properly maintained.
